How it works

About a minute each

You pick, they pick without peeking, they call the legs, the race runs. Then you both see how close you came to the perfect duo for your road.

  1. Today's lineup: spec cards for ten fictional cars, two of each type, under the road forecast 'Wet in the mountains'.
    01

    Pick a car

Ten cars, two of each type, every stat on the card. The same lineup for everyone today.

  2. Your car is locked in. Buttons to send it to a friend, on WhatsApp or Telegram, or to copy the link.
    02

    Send it to one friend

One tap to WhatsApp, Telegram or anywhere else. The link never shows your pick.

  3. The reveal: 'Turbo took the hypercar?!' The two cars side by side, and the five legs of the road.
    03

    They pick blind

Then the reveal: both cars side by side. “Turbo took the hypercar?!”

  4. Who drives each leg? Each leg shows its weather and the stats that decide it.
    04

    They split the road

Five legs, each with its weather. Each car drives at least two. Every change of car costs a handoff.

  5. The result: 72% of the perfect duo, the rank of the day, and the leg-by-leg breakdown.
    05

    Race the perfect duo

Twenty seconds against the best pair of cars for your road. Then your %, and every leg explained in plain words.

The cars

Forty cars. Ten a day.

Classics, hypercars, super-trucks, tuner legends and super-wagons, all invented. The type is a rule of thumb, not the answer: some cars break it. Read the stats. Here is one day's lineup.

Every car is original: invented marques, models and liveries, checked so none looks like a real car.

The road

Seven legs. Three kinds of weather.

Everyone sees the day's forecast. Every duo gets its own five legs drawn from it, so nobody can leak your road. Scores are % of the perfect duo for your road, so different roads compare fairly.

The legs

  • Desert straightdecided by power + top speed
  • Mountain hairpinsdecided by grip + light weight
  • City streetsdecided by light weight + power-to-weight
  • Raindecided by grip + traction
  • Top-speed rundecided by top speed
  • Gravel trackdecided by traction + clearance
  • Sand dunesdecided by traction + power

The weather

  • Dryas usual
  • Wetgrip and traction matter more; power beyond grip is wasted
  • Crosswindheavy cars hold the line; light cars get pushed around (straights only)

⇄ Every time the wheel changes car between two legs, the duo loses a handoff (8.5 s). Keep a car on legs that sit together.

The race

You don't drive. Watch your calls play out.

Once the legs are called, the race runs by itself against the perfect duo for your road, staged like a broadcast: a 3-2-1 on the line, each leg titled, driven, then stamped WON, LOST or LEVEL with one sentence on why, overtakes as they happen, and a photo-finish. About 35 to 40 seconds, in 3D on your phone. Tap for the next leg, or skip to the result. Under each title you can call who gains the leg: your race eye, just for fun, never your score.

  1. The count: a big 3 over the start line in the desert, both cars side by side on the line.

3, 2, 1Your calls are locked in; both duos line up.

  2. GO! over Leg 1 of 5, Desert straight, your Surge drives, with Us and Them buttons under the question Who gains this leg?

Each leg titledWho drives it, and an optional call: who gains this leg?

  3. OVERTAKE! on the mountain hairpins: the green hypercar passing the orange car of the perfect duo.

OvertakesThe cars cross when the gap flips, and the screen says so.

  4. The verdict card: The Zenmai gained 3.9 s on the hairpins: grip 10 against 7, stamped WON.

StampedWON, LOST or LEVEL, with the one stat that decided it.

  5. The photo-finish: FINISH stamped over the line on the top-speed run, the final gap landing big: +14.4 s behind the perfect duo.

Photo-finishThe frame holds on the line, then the final gap lands.

Drift · right next to the duo on the home screen

Same cars. Your thumbs.

The second game: you drive. Phone sideways, two thumbs. The right thumb slides up for speed and down to slow; the left thumb slides into the bend and the car drifts that way, and how far you slide is how much angle. The car keeps to the road; your thumbs choose the speed and the slide. Your first run teaches you at the first bend. While you hold the slide, a meter fills gold in the car's sweet angle; at the exit the corner's time lands against the road's reference, with one sentence on what to do next. Too fast and you run wide into the gravel; too much gas while sideways and you spin. Pick before the run whether the clock or the slide counts.

The drift result: 89% of the reference, 26.5 s against 23.7 s, clean, the Cinder, and corner by corner what each cost with the next move for each.

What counts is your choice

Time, against the road's reference (the game's own best run of that leg in your car), or style, points for the slide. Both are kept, and the result tells you, corner by corner, what each one cost and why.

Every car slides differently: light cars snap in and out, heavy ones slide long, high grip catches fast. One leg for now, the city streets at golden hour or on a lit wet night; the relay with your friend comes next. Play it at rideordie.online/drift, phone sideways.

Ride with a stranger

After your pick, you can ride right away with another player's real pick from today's lineup, made blind like yours. You call the legs, race the perfect duo, and it's ranked with everyone's duos.

  • No names: the stranger shows up under a made-up alias.
  • If nobody else has picked yet, the Hitchhiker brings a car, and says so.
  • One ride with a stranger a day. The best rides are still with a friend.

The share

Show the score. Hide the road.

Every result makes a card you can send with one tap. It shows the colours of your two cars, won, close or lost on each leg, and your %. It never shows the cars' names or the legs, so it can't spoil anyone's road.
